Effective Lip Protection
Lip protection is more important than you might think, as our lips are often the first to be exposed to the cold winter air. Compared to other parts of the face, our lips have the least protection. While your face is covered in a nice, relatively thick protective layer of skin that, if you’re careful, stays intact and prevents drying out, your lips are practically bare in comparison. Most of us need a layer of “skin” on our lips called the stratum corneum, which is very thin and has sweat pores/glands. This means we need to moisturize and protect our lips to keep them smooth and soft. Lip protection isn’t difficult, but it does require a routine that will keep your lips soft, supple and free of cracks.
What to do if you have chapped lips?
Apply lip balm. One application of Boroplus Skin Care Cream can protect the delicate skin of your lips from the elements. Boroplus Cream contains a lot of emollients and herbal oils that lock in moisture and close the cracks and fissures on dry lips.
Apply early and often. Moisturize your lips before applying lipstick or lip gloss, not after. Repeat the application several times to keep your lips protected. You need about six to eight applications during the day, so apply first thing in the morning, at night, and every few hours during the day. To help you remember to apply, put a tube of Boroplus in your purse, one in your car, a third on your desk, and another near your bed.
Protect your lips when you’re outside. Cover your arms and legs when the temperature drops; do the same for your lips. Wear a scarf or ski mask that covers your mouth when you go out in the cold. And don’t forget to bring a tube of Boroplus skin care cream.
Factors in the body can also dry out your lips
Drink enough water, especially in the winter. You know that drinking enough water has many benefits for your body. One of these is fighting dehydration, which leads to chapped lips. Use a humidifier indoors. These devices provide the humidity that your lips and skin crave. They are great to have at work or at home, especially in the winter. Turn it on at night to help your skin regenerate while you sleep.
Don’t lick your lips. While it may seem like a good idea at the time, licking your lips is the worst thing you can do for them. When your saliva dries, it takes more moisture out of your lips. Instead, apply a layer of Boroplus Skin nourishing cream.
